Cheap Legal MP3’s To Build Your Music Library

Legal MP3\'sThere are so many ways to get mp3 music files today it almost makes it seem like it is not illegal to steal music from the artists.   Now there are a few artists today that say that you can download there music and they don’t care.  However most people still believe you are stealing if you do not pay for there audio tracks.  ITunes has make buying music legally so hard and expensive, I do see why most take the other route.  It is actually easier to get illegal music than it is to download the legal version, this does not give much motivation to people to buy music, does it?

The point is that there are some great sites to buy music from and there are some sites that make the download effortless and really cheap.  We hope that you take a couple of minutes to check out these sites and see for yourself.

Below are a list of trusted websites that offer discount MP3 Music:

1. Audio Find – This is a Russian site and has many, many, many popular artists and albums here. Since the current exchange rate is 1 U.S. dollar = 24.5386729 Russian rubles each song works out to about $.50 or less. That’s about half of what people are paying all day long at iTunes.

2. Sounds Box – This is the Holy Grail of cheap MP3 Music.  This site boasts over 2 million tracks from all the popular artists and they only charge $.14/song.  Yep, 14 cents a song is more along the lines of my budget.  They also offer a 10% discount if you buy the whole album. These guys even give you some free music, just for signing up.

3. IomOIO – This site offer $.10 cent tracks so a full album works out to be between $1.20 and $1.50 in most cases.  You can’t go wrong with music for this price.  They do not offer as many mp3 tracks as some other sites do, but do you really look through millions of tracks or do you want the popular stuff?  These guys are sure to satisfy your cheap mp3 needs.

John Pointer – Beatbox Guitarist

John PointerI just don’t know if this guy is amazing or if I am just a looser.? You tell me…John Pointer is a guitar player, a singer, and a beat boxer.? Sounds like? weird combo, not to be confused with “Brave Combo” they are a polka band, I said weird combo.? This guy is not a rapper, he just does his own drums, with his mouth that is.? He is a very smooth guitarist who loves hitting harmonics and is a please to watch play, he slaps the guitar to get unique sounds, much like Keller Williams.? He has a soft but smooth voice, close to Jason Mraz and with a little time in front of a crowd I think he can be the next big thing in the music or pop world.? Only time will tell but I’ll be here watching either way.

Any way, I’m not going to spam up the Musiblog with a bunch links, just google or you tube “John Pointer” you will see what I am talking about.? Check out my favorite song of his “The Flame”, it is one of his more developed songs and it is rather catchy, maybe good for the radio?? This guy has more talent in his pinkie finger than in my whole body. I have been following him for a while and he has recently got a couple jobs on commercials.? I think he just needs a good writer and he is on his way to superstardome!? There are not many I can honestly say that about but this guy is the real deal.

I think he is the best thing to come along since sliced bread, for what it’s worth, no not the “Buffalo Springfield” song, I just mean that you may not all agree with me, so its only worth what you make of it.

Pink Floyd Keyboardist Dies at 65

Pink Floyd\'s Richard WrightWe recently lost one of musics huge stars, Richard Wright of Pink Floyd.  We here at MusiBlog will all miss him and send our reguards to his family and friends.  Wright died on Monday, September 15, at his home in Britain after a long battle with cancer. He was 65 years old or as we like to say 65 years young.  We know that his music holds a special place in so many people hearts that his sound will carry on forever.  We hope that everybody remembers only the best of the fallen Richard Wright.

Here are some comments from Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour regarding the death of keyboardist Richard Wright:

“No one can replace Richard Wright. He was my musical partner and my friend.”

“In the welter of arguments about who or what was Pink Floyd, Rick’s enormous input was frequently forgotten.”

“He was gentle, unassuming and private but his soulful voice and playing were vital, magical components of our most recognised Pink Floyd sound.”

David Gilmour goes on to say….

“I have never played with anyone quite like him. The blend of his and my voices and our musical telepathy reached their first major flowering in 1971 on Echoes. In my view all the greatest PF moments are the ones where he is in full flow. After all, without “Us and Them” and “The Great Gig in the Sky,” both of which he wrote, what would The Dark Side of the Moon have been? Without his quiet touch the album Wish You Were Here would not quite have worked.”

“In our middle years, for many reasons he lost his way for a while, but in the early Nineties, with The Division Bell, his vitality, spark and humour returned to him and then the audience reaction to his appearances on my tour in 2006 was hugely uplifting and it’s a mark of his modesty that those standing ovations came as a huge surprise to him, (though not to the rest of us).”

“Like Rick, I don’t find it easy to express my feelings in words, but I loved him and will miss him enormously.”

Me and Mr. Johnson – Eric Clapton

Album Cover Me and Mr. Johnson - Eric ClaptonEric Clapton has been known by most for years now, if he is not a name you are familiar with then today is the day to get to know him.  Old “Slow Hand” himself has had more number one hits than many bands have had songs.  If we here at the Musiblog did not know any better we would bet the farm that he was born with a guitar in his hand!  He came on to the music scene in the early sixties along with the British invasion and he has never stopped putting out hits ever since.

You may know Eric Clapton from any of the many bands he has been part of in his career including: Yardbirds, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith, Delaney and Bonnie and Friends, and Derek and the Dominoes.  Eric Clapton has also done enough partnership or duet albums to make most people sick.  One of my favorites was his “Riding with the King” album he did years ago with the famous blues player B.B. King.

Some have said that Eric Clapton has spent the last 40 years building up to the release of this very album and I would not hesitate to agree.  This album takes a lifetime of blues playing, living and loss and puts it into a single album.  Clapton takes it back to the basics with this album and plays from the soul.  You can feel Robert Johnson’s ghost lurking around as you listen to every deep track on this unbelievable album.

You have never heard a harder driving bass line that you will if you crank this cd up loud.  Clapton has outdone himself to an extent with this album I really can’t even describe it, besides “Go Out and Buy This!”  Me and Mr. Johnson is a finger styling guitarist dream, if you like the roots of the blues this is THE album that will bridge you from todays music to the very heart of the blues!

Top 10 Song Writers You Have Never Heard Of Before

Leonard CohenI recently accross a list of the “top 100 living songwriters” from Paste Magazine, the list was compiled by Robin Hilton.  So I will admit fully that I am personally more of a lyrics person than a name person.  I can tell you ever word to a song but I have absolutely no idea who sings it, who wrote it, or what band they are in.  Not to say that I don’t know any names but as a whole I come up short when it comes to “name that band.”  As I am going trough this list and I am looking at all these names and wondering if I am missing out on a bunch of great music or if I know more than I realize.   So of the top 100 I took the top 10 that I had not heard of and listened to their stuff to see what they were about.

So the wait is over, here is the top ten countdown, starting at the top:

Scott Weiland Solo Release – Happy

Scott WeilandThe Stone Temple Pilots lead singer “Scott Weiland” has announced plans to release his second solo album, simply titled Happy, on Nov. 18.  Scott Weiland will be using his own record label “Softdrive” to produce and release this new album.  This will the this rockers second solo album release in the past 10 years, he has joined with some different band members to rejuvinate his sound and maybe give his fans a whole new outlook on who he is and what he is capable of producing this time.

His last solo album release was about 10 years ago, in 1998 he released “12 Bar Blues”, which received decent reviews but did not do so well on the charts.  Hopefully he will fair better this time around.  It seems that he may have actually cleaned up his act this time.   The trouble prone rocker has had hits with “Velvet Revolver” in recent years but from the reviews I have read about the live performances he has never got the monkey off of his back as far as excessive drug and alcohol abuse go.

According to Billboard, Happy sports guest appearances by three No Doubt members—bassist Tony Kanal, guitarist Tom Dumont, and drummer Adrian Young.  Maybe this change of pace with band members will show a new side to Scott and his music.

This summer Scott re-united with his original band members from Stone Temple Pilots for a very successful tour, if this is any way to judge, he may be back in a big way.  Only time will tell, he has had many ups and downs, we will see how this new venture goes.

Pandora Internet Radio

Pandora Radio - Loading PageThere have been many streaming internet radio stations on the internet for years now.  So, by no means is Pandora new to the online music business.  Pandora is just leading the industry, as far as we here at MusiBlog can tell.

In the past Yahoo’s “Launch.com” was looking to be the leader as they has sponsored in studio exclusives with the newest bands, but through time they have ether lost sponsorship or just lost many of the great track they used to have available.  Launch.com also has so many commercials it is ridiculous.  Pandora does not interrupt your music to play advertisements.  The do have advertising on the site but it is completely unobtrusive to your ability to listen to your music.

The Pandora website is running what they call the “Music Genome Project“.  This is essentially making a mind map of users musical interests to make a better automated play list for anyone.  There musical genre selection really is the best we have ever tested.  Launch used to let you rank song, artist, and album but it did not seem to really focus in on your interests, it seemed more like they played what was new and most likely what they were getting paid to promote.  The Pandora Radio is not like this at all.   When you create your own station based on an artist, song, or musical genre the site only plays stuff that you are going to love.

Pandora Radio Player

The player shows a list of song you have hears and you can use this to give a thumbs up or down to all the music that has been played.  You can skip tracks, you can share your stations, and even get all the info on any band you want here.  You can of course buy albums and songs here, as this is there main income stream but as a free service it is still hard to beat.

I think this is one of the best free music services out there and is definitely worth a look.

So visit the Pandor Radio now.
