Scott Weiland Solo Release – Happy
The Stone Temple Pilots lead singer “Scott Weiland” has announced plans to release his second solo album, simply titled Happy, on Nov. 18. Scott Weiland will be using his own record label “Softdrive” to produce and release this new album. This will the this rockers second solo album release in the past 10 years, he has joined with some different band members to rejuvinate his sound and maybe give his fans a whole new outlook on who he is and what he is capable of producing this time.
His last solo album release was about 10 years ago, in 1998 he released “12 Bar Blues”, which received decent reviews but did not do so well on the charts. Hopefully he will fair better this time around. It seems that he may have actually cleaned up his act this time. The trouble prone rocker has had hits with “Velvet Revolver” in recent years but from the reviews I have read about the live performances he has never got the monkey off of his back as far as excessive drug and alcohol abuse go.
According to Billboard, Happy sports guest appearances by three No Doubt members—bassist Tony Kanal, guitarist Tom Dumont, and drummer Adrian Young. Maybe this change of pace with band members will show a new side to Scott and his music.
This summer Scott re-united with his original band members from Stone Temple Pilots for a very successful tour, if this is any way to judge, he may be back in a big way. Only time will tell, he has had many ups and downs, we will see how this new venture goes.
