sylent boss king

Here is a quick biography that Tariq Hassan “Sylent” put together for us recently.  Take a second to get to know this up and coming rapper from the New England area!

My name is Tariq Hassan, stage name Sylent Bossking T.Mcvay I was born and raised in Boston Massachusetts but grew up in Roxbury Massachusetts which is located in the heart of the city. I’ve been surrounded by music and art my entire life my father was a great jazz musician by the name of Raqib Hassan and mother a great actress and poet by the name of Khaliqa Hassan. Growing up in the inner city was extremely tough but at the end of the day there was always the music which I learned to use to escape the harsh realities of life with, right now.

I’m fighting all types of crap within myself I often ask myself why it seems as though the best artist are always the most outrageous people you’ll ever meet? I still cant answer that question but one things for sure, I’m definitely one of those outrageous artists, a loose cannon to say the least, before I go on I really want to make something clear to the reader, my music is my life everything I’ve gone threw and have personally experienced ,I’m not just some guy speaking in rhyme talking about a bunch of nonsense or speaking about what I think you’d like to hear, I speak the truth and that’s what I know separates me from allot of other artist out there.

All of my music is from the heart and extremely real.

Recently I’ve opened up an artistic street wear boutique by the name of BXclusive which is a huge deal for me, because coming from where I’m from, your either dead or in jail by the age of 25 I’ve really started to learn from my mistakes and use my talents to turn a negative situation into a positive one. By all means its been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life but well worth every sacrifice, strength, patience and dedication is what I’m all about.

I really think it shows in my music as well as my self-image. Whatever I do I do it to the fullest extent I give hope to all the young kids in my hood whenever I come around, its sort of like I’m a beacon of light for them to see and look up to and that alone makes me want to work even harder. Right now I’m actually working on a few big musical projects which is extremely therapeutic to me, because I still have yet to master the proper way to handle idle time. Threw hard work and dedication I’ve had the opportunity off working with some of the biggest artist in the industry and though I’m not in the spotlight yet I know it’s only a matter of time before you see me at the top. If there’s anything that I’ve learned in my life that I can share with you it would definitely be working hard pays off. No matter what hand life deals you never ever give up. See you at the top.

What type of music do I listen to?

Well, I tend to favor music and I can sing to, that fits my voice range, but also because I like the certain song. My favorite artists tend to be my favorite because they sing certain songs that I can relate to ones that I love the meaning and message that they are trying to send out. My favorite artists range from Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, Elton John, Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Kenney Chesney, Rihanna, to Mariah Carey. Like I said earlier what draws me to these artists are mainly there lyrics.
Kenney Chesney has a song called “Who’d You Be Today.” He had lost a friend that died at a very young age. In the song he sings about how he wonders what his friend would be like today would they have gotten married and started a family. “It ain’t fair how you died so young like a story that had just begun but death tore the pages all away.” My best friend died in a car accident when we were 14 years old. When this song first came I out I cried and cried and cried because it is truly how I feel about her death.
Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Carrie Underwood, and Sara Evans all have songs about love. Almost every girl going through high school and their late teen years and early twenties have all been in relationships and had their heart broken. I am currently in a relationship and hoping that it will be my last relationship. Sara Evans has a song “I Could Not Ask For More.” “Looking in your eyes seeing all I need, everything you are is everything to me….I’ve got all I’ve waited for, and I could not ask for more. I was just telling my boyfriend the other day that Rihanna and Neyo’s song “Hate How Much I Love You,” reminds me of our relationship. I can be mad at him one second and the next second totally forget why I was mad at him in the first place.
