Micah Walk – One Of The Best Local Talents I’ve Seen
Micah Walk, yes this is probably a name you have never heard before, unless you are from Springfield, IL or the surrounding areas. This many is simply amazing and I hate to try to compare his music to another, because he really does have a unique and powerful sound. If I had to put his name next to another more popular artist, I suppose I would have to compare his sound to Dave Mathews, Ryan Adams or the likes of these folks. Micah brings an amazing strength to his music, even on a sad song, I have never seen another live performer that can put any audience in the palm of his hand and make them feel the emotions he is feeling in each song he delivers.
There is something magical about his music and I think that this is something that everybody should have the chance to experience. His music is low and slow and very emotional, far from emo though, trust me. If you are looking for a fast and furious noise ridden musical experience you will not find it here. Micah started off playing in local coffee shops and at many open mic’s in the Springfield area and his music reflects the intimate and small personal venues he had become accustomed to playing. The somber and some times even flat out sad songs he writes may be a downer to some, but much like the blues that I love so much, it seems to be very uplifting to me.
Micah Walk has created a new band and is starting to move to larger venues than ever, I for one wish him the best of success and have for some time wondered why this guy has not got a major record deal, because he truly deserves one.
