FOREVER 27…. some might say the 27 club

Forever 27 Art Print by Scott Lobaido

So in an earlier post on Robert Johnson i made mention of the forever 27, well this is what i am talking about. Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Jimmie Hendrix, and Kurt Cobain all died at the age of 27. Just thing of what else they might have accomplished if they had not met their untimely deaths. This is a poster i do own a copy of myself when i saw it i had to have it. On the back of mine it has a piece of paper that tell 27 referances to one of the 4 artist in the poster see if you can find them and i will post all the answers at a later date. I still stand behind my earlier comment that Robert Johnson should have been  included.

for more information on each of these artist i have provided a few links below

DUBBED THE FATHER OF ROCK AND ROLL…….. ROBERT JOHSON

…….ONLY 27 YRS. OLD AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH  (ANYONE FAMILAR WITH THE FOREVER 27 POSTER, I WONDER WHY HE WASN’T INCLUDED.)

RATED 5TH ON ROLLING STONES 100 GREATEST GUITARIST’S OF ALL TIME.

AS LEGEND WOULD SAY:

WITH THE GREAT DESIRE TO BE A GREAT BLUES ARTIST, ROBERT JOHNSON TOOK HIS GUITAR TO THE CROSSROADS AT MIDNIGHT. THERE HE MET A LARGE BLACK MAN (THE DEVIL) WHO TOOK THE GUITAR FROM JOHNSON AND TUNED IT IN EXCHANGE FOR HIS SOUL. GIVING JOHNSON THE ABILITY TO SING, PLAY, AND CREATE GREAT BLUES MUSIC FOR ALL TO HEAR

THOUGH NOT SOMETHING THAT CAN BE PROVEN BY ANY MEANS, MANY WONDERED IF IT WAS REALLY A JOKE. EITHER WAY HIS MUSIC WAS IN FACT LEGENDARY.

FOR A LIST OF ALL OF HIS SONGS:

John Mayer Has The Blues

John Mayer if a very well known Pop singer and songwriter, but what about the blues?  Many people write John Mayer off because his lovey dovey pop singles that most are familiar with that are on MTV and usually tearing up the Pop charts.  However I can tell you this guy really is a great guitar player and should not be taken so lightly. I have seen his performances at Eric Clapton’s Crossroad’s Festival and he is an amazing blues man when he wants to be.

I just saw this side of him not too long ago and have been blown away ever since.  It just goes to show you that sometimes you do have to play a certain type of music to get well known.  Then you can branch out or bring it back to the roots of your own music and this is where it’s at.

Here is a video of some of John’s blues, Enjoy!
